# The Dock
When sessions need you, Heed's Dock icon gets a badge with how many. Its colour is the state's: amber when one is
blocked, violet when they are only asking.
![The Dock icon with a badge: 2 sessions need you, one of them blocked](https://docs-v3-preview.elastic.dev/images/shots/outside/dock.png)
```toml
[ui]
dock_state = true
```

Both this and the [menu bar item](https://docs-v3-preview.elastic.dev/outside-the-window/menu-bar) can be turned off in Settings (`⌘,`).
